Epilogue-Your Last… Carroussel Ride… ‘The Girl I Love’.

SONG: ‘The Girl I Love’.

Part of the 1924 score for the Gershwin musical comedy Lady, Be Good, the song was deleted from that show and put into the Gershwins’ 1927 government satire Strike Up the Band (where it appears as “The Man I Love” and “The Girl I Love”), which closed out-of-town. It was considered for, then rejected from, the 1928 Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. hit Rosalie.^[2]

The Great American Jazz Singer Billie Holiday recorded the song THE MAN I LOVE December 13th, 1939 and it was initially issued as a 78-RPM single on Vocalion Records in 1940.

Of course, it was a hit! And these days, a unique collectable item!
